PERSONAL NOTES AND OBSERVATIONS

This album was intended to be a filler until the new CSNY album "Human Highway" was finished and released. As we all now know, that album was never finished, with only a few laid down tracks surviving from the recording sessions.

"So Far" is one of only five albums baring the names CSNY as a foursome. The two redeeming features on this compilation are; "Ohio" and "Find the cost of Freedom" (the latter originally intended for the "Easy Rider" soundtrack).

The group didn't want the album released, arguing that is was a bit early to put out a greatest hits album after only two records. But despite their protests it was released 26th August 1974 and went to the top of the charts. It's a fairly good beginners guide to CSNY, and at the time, sold well on the strength of their tour that year.

And the best part about the album in my opinion is it's front cover, it was painted by Joni Mitchell.
